07/15 Cards vs Padres
July 20, 2008
In an offensive battle the cards managed 16 hits with 17 runs!
The Cards defense did struggle with some errors on routine plays and the first baseman is rumoured to have purchased some contact cement for his foot to be used next game.
However this is what ex games are for so the cards will work on pulling our socks up defensvely and keep up the offense.
Thanks to the Padres for hosting us and being good opponents we look forward to a rematch 08/08/08 Game stars:
Brent Keats 4 for 4 with a Triple & 3 runs scored Mitch Hanna 5 innings 8 hits 5 runs while going 2 for 5 with a double & 1 Run scored Team Offense- As every player reached base
July 12th The Irish come to Blue Mountain!
July 20, 2008
On a Beautiful Saturday night the Cards met the Fighting Irish of North Delta!
The Cards got ahead early scoring 6 runs in the first to take the lead thanks to a couple of hits & good patience at the plate.
Lars Aslin the wizzard pitched 5 strong innings working some majic and overcoming some diversite securing the W with the help of a Neil Romo save!
The Cards won however you have to give the Irish credit as they were worthy opponents almost no errors while getting some good hits with managing baserunners almost every inning & scoring 8 runs.
Game Stars: The Wizzard Lars Aslin for the 2nd game in a row! 5 innings with 4 ER & 6 K going 3 for 4 at the plate with 1 double 3 runs scored & 2 RBI Joel Hansen- Catching 5 hot innings while going 2 for 3 with a walk ,double 1 RBI & 2 runs scored. July 6th Cards vs Mounties
July 20, 2008
In an epic battle for 6th place in the Bunnett Division the Cards & Mounties met for the 2nd time this season.
What a game! The lead changed 5 times as each team was playing to win!
Lars Aslin ( otherwise known as the wizzard) pitched 5 strong innings allowing just 4 runs whille hitting not 1 but 2 doubles to help his cause!
With the score 6 to 3 against the Cards in the 8th inning and their backs against the wall the Cards rallied loading the bases and with 2 out Mark Staples hit a grand slam for the cards to take the lead 7 to 6.
The game is nine innings long however & the Mounties took advantage and ended up winning to split the season series 1-1.

Holy Newton Batman!
June 23, 2008
Wow
The Rockies came into Blue Mountain Saturday 06/21 ready to play ball!
The Cardinals with a core line up almost identical to that which SHOOK the bombers tree just 6 days before were ready!
However the cards behind WILD THING Mitch Hanna fell behind early due to a few lazy plays and well placed hits not hard just some ground balls with eyes so to speak.
The cards were never able to mount much of a comeback we may have been tired from the 3 games in 6 days coach forced us to play!!
Well there is always another game and the cards will work toward getting those bats hot again.
Great preformances in the game go to Lars Aslin who came in to pitch in the 5th inning and held the other team at bay!
Kudos to Jordan who came in to catch in his first league game opportunity however he boasted confidence as he has been the most reliable cage catcher for two years! just to valuable in our outfield!
Brent Keats hit a nice double and caught the first 4 innings before "Wild Thing hurt" him what is rumoured to be called the HOLY COW of all pitches! as that is what all batters state after they whiff 4 K's in 4 Innings with it. How about that :)
Give credit to Newton they did not make an error and with a couple of new pitchers signed recently they looked good and they did play a full nine innings on the bases in the field and at the plate!!
The Giants are who we thought they are

06/15 Yankees A great game vs top seeded Burnaby Yankees where the Cardinal played together as a team from start to finish! Holding the Bronx bombers back while coming from behind early to take the lead into the ninth!
Give them bombers credit they managed to pull off a sweet bottom of the ninth rally!! Until next time :)
Was a good game overall and the whole team deserves the game star!
06/17 Aldergrove
Aldergrove. After a rough top of the first first the Cards manged to come back and the lead 3-2 and it looked as though we had the makings of Sundays battle with the Yankees.
Aldergrove had other plans!! they turned on their aggressive bats in the 5th aggressive bats!! and came back to win winning the game 10-4. The Cardinals now look to Saturday and hopes of winning one of the 3 games they have played this week as they take on the Newton Rockies.
Cards Win at Home
June 11, 2008
Sorry for posting so late.
The Cards won 14-7 at home last saturday in front of a full house. Every aspect of the Cards game was solid. Dan Dorland pitched 4 strong innings, and after an Ian explosion, left the game with his second win of the season in his back pocket. Ian Vandendool had a monster game hitting two long balls, and collecting 7 rbi's. Everyone on the Cards was hitting the ball, with all but one Card getting a hit. There was some panic pregame as no catchers were present, so make-shift catcher Ron Dorland stepped in to create a Dorland battery. Later, Steve Jaggard put on the gear and did a great job. The fielding, pitching, hitting and base running were all very good for the Cards, and this win they can feel good about. The cards next game is the 15th versus the Yankees.
Three Stars: 1) Ian Vandendool- two homers and 7 rbi's, 2 scoreless innings pitched 2) Dan Dorland- 4/5, 3 rbi's at the plate and picking up the win 3) Ron Dorland- 2/4, RBI, 2r's, w, good job behind the plate

DISGUSTING
June 1, 2008
Well at least the weather was beautiful on saturday night, because other than that the showing the Cardinals gave was absolutely horrible. Steve Jaggard was given the start, and pitched fairly well, throwing four innings. He gave the Cards ample opportunities to get out of innings, but the defense simply let him down. Truthfully the stats don't give him justice, and after four innings the cardinals found themselves down 8-1. From there Dan Dorland came in and threw five strong innings, striking out six while allowing six hits. The bats as they have been most of the year were silent. Brent Keats had a nice game at the plate going 2/3. Other than that, Ron Dorland, Dan Dorland, Steve Jaggard, and Tyler Olynyk were the only other players to reach base by that of the base hit variety. I cannot stress enough what PRACTICE does for a team. Obviously our 1-4-1 record means we must be a strong team that needs no practice. It's time for everyone to look in the mirror and take account of there own actions. Also coming to a game not prepared if it's by PARTYING or whatever reason is not acceptable. It's a TEAM game and its time for players to rally and become GOOD TEAMATTES rather than just a space on the roster. Next game is june 7th against the Burnaby Brewers.
Three Stars: 1. Brent Keats - 2/3, hbp, rbi 2. Dan Dorland - 5 inn pitched, 6 K's, 1/3 double 3. Shayn Solberg - 2 sb, great plays at second
Cards Lose to Padres
May 25, 2008
The Cardinals fell 9-6 to the South Delta Padres Sunday afternoon under the sunny backdrop of Ladner. The undermanned Cards were able to hang in the game through five innings, as Dan Dorland was on his game on the mound, but were unable to keep with the Padres with a short bench. "Coach Sean" suited up for the first time in years as the Cardinals only had eight players. Tim Wilkins from the Tigers also helped out suiting up for as many innings as he could before having to leave for his own game. He helped out with a key hit and rbi. Of the regular roster, Tyler Olinyk played while battling a kidney stone and Steve Jaggard finished the game with a possible broken wrist. All in all, the Cards just couldn't keep up with a very well coached Padres team. The Cards next game is Saturday at Blue Mountain Park.
Three Stars: 1. Ron Dorland- 2/2, Triple, 2BB, RBI 2. Dan Dorland- 5 inn pitched, 1 ER 3. Ian Vandendool- Double, BB. Pitching- 1 inn, 0 ER
